Film director James Toback has been accused of potentially violating state laws including sexual battery and indecent exposure. Four women accused him of attacking them between 1978 and 2008 but the statute of limitations has expired.
Toback had denied any wrongdoing that involved the accusers. Three women all shared a similar story mentioning that Toback rubbed his penis on their legs until he ejaculated and were afraid to come forward after the incident took place. Two other women claimed that he tried to convince them to engage in sexual intercourse with him. One woman alleged that he pushed her and proceeded to expose himself. Another woman said that he tried to kiss her while groping her body.
The Oscar-nominated director had reportedly been accused by 38 women back in October of 2017 of perverted and creepy behavior. The women all reported that the attacks were similar: he would approach the victims by informing them of his Hollywood status and how he could use his position to make them a star. Toback denied all of the allegations against them arguing that he had never met any of the women and the behavior they described was “biologically impossible” to engage in because of his diabetes and heart condition that he took medication for.
Los Angeles County prosecutors cited the statute of limitations in declining to file charges against the film director.
