June 6th, 2017: Tuesday night at about 9 pm an officer-involved shooting took place in Wilmington, California on the corner of Wilmington Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. Two men were involved and one of the two died immediately at the scene while the other was apprehended.
While police did not disclose what caused the shooting, they stated they were responding to a call that two men were shooting at each other. An officer was injured at the scene but it was later discovered that he was not struck by any bullets. It is still unclear how he was injured exactly. He had reported he had been shot by one of the suspects to nearby officers, but later the truth surfaced and his initial report had been found false.
Media helicopters captured images and video that one of the two suspects was run over by a patrol car that drove straight into an iron fence. Although the man was pronounced dead at the scene, LAPD did not call the coroner until Wednesday morning.
It is still unclear as to why this man was struck by the car and LAPD has not released a statement to the public in regards to it. They also have not addressed why the police officer had indeed reported a false incident.Have you been charged with a crime? We will help you fight back!
