June 17th, 2017: At about midnight, a young woman in her twenties was walking to her vehicle parked on the 800 block of Ardmore Avenue in Manhattan Beach. She was abruptly stopped and pushed down from behind to the ground by the alleged suspect. This allowed the suspect to gain physical control of her and proceeded to sexually assault her. The victim attempted to fight back which eventually caused the suspect to flee the scene.
The Manhattan Beach sexual assault suspect was described as Latino and wore a gray shirt and black sweatpants. He was about 200 pounds at stood at about five feet nine inches tall.
At this time there is no additional information in regards to this crime although the suspect was reportedly seen in the downtown area of Manhattan Beach earlier in the day.
Sergeant Tim Zins of the Manhattan Beach police department released a statement where he suggested that residents should remain aware of their surroundings at all times. He also stated that anyone who believes they are being followed should take action and call the police immediately.
