Ernenwein & johnson wishes you a happy “and safe” halloween!

|

Halloween is here and we’re all looking forward to dressing up and having fun with our friends and loved ones. However, as much as everyone loves a good spook this time of year, we’d like to give you some tips to avoid what can be a truly scary experience.

BE A REAL SUPERHERO THIS YEAR BY BEING A DESIGNATED DRIVER

According to recent reports, DUI rates skyrocket around holidays such as Halloween. Don’t be surprised, then, to see a number of DUI checkpoints while out tonight. In fact, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) launched a campaign this year encouraging partygoers to avoid alcoholic beverages, stating “Don’t just dress like a Superhero this Halloween…BECOME A SUPERHERO by volunteering to be the non-drinking designated driver.” If you are going to drink, be sure you have either a designated driver, a safe place to sleep, or call a taxi service. The number for L.A. County Yellow Cab is (310) 361-3068.

BE A REAL PRIVATE EYE AND LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE CROSSING THE STREET

As mentioned above, there will likely be a high rate of drunk driving tonight, as with any other major holiday. So how does that affect you, a walking trick-or-treater? Well, as you’re walking from door to door and the dusk turns into night, cars can be hard to see! This is especially the case when a drunk driver forgets to turn his headlights on. That’s why it’s important to whip out the Sherlock Holmes style magnifying glass and be sure to keep a look out for oncoming traffic when crossing the street.

ENJOY YOUR TREATS, WITHOUT THE TRICKS

Halloween is notorious for pranks, but sometimes a prank can go too far. In fact, some local governments have made it illegal for markets to sell eggs to minors on Halloween. Why? Because many of those eggs end up plastered on the homes of unsuspecting neighbors. While some may think “egging” is a harmless prank, the police refer to such acts as vandalism—and it can get you arrested.
